NSF CAREER Award Incentive

The CUNY 2010 NSF CAREER Award Incentive

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is pleased to announce a new University-wide initiative to encourage junior faculty to apply for funding from the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program.

The CAREER program is the most prestigious NSF award offered to faculty members in the sciences and social sciences who are just beginning their independent research and teaching careers. The program is designed to provide junior faculty with secure financial support at a sufficient level and duration to enable them to excel as researchers and educators who effectively integrate teaching, learning and discovery.

For any successfully funded proposal, CUNY will provide a 10% supplement to the entire award up to a maximum of $50,000. This one time opportunity will apply to any CAREER application submitted for the upcoming deadlines (July 20-22, 2010).

Please note that it may be beneficial for your Department Chair to mention CUNY's supplemental incentive in their required Letter of Support (Section V. A 1 of CAREER solicitation).

To aid in the pursuit of this opportunity, we encourage faculty to register for a webinar entitled "How to Write a Winning NSF CAREER Proposal." The webinar is scheduled for April 13, 2010 at 2:00pm EST and is sponsored by Academic Research Funding Strategies LLC. More information about the webinar can be found here.
